Clinical Nursing

First Phase of Study (Semester 1-6)

In the dual study program, you will work at the University Hospital of Cologne while completing your training at the Lindenburg Academy.

Alternating Theory and Practice

Theoretical instruction takes place in block formats at the Lindenburg Academy. These phases alternate regularly with practical placements

• Practical training in various departments at the University Hospital of Cologne
• Placements at external practice partners
• Direct application of theory to everyday professional practice

Academic Studies During the Semester

In parallel with your clinical training, you will participate in university-level coursework:

• 1 day of classes per week
• Coverage of academic fundamentals and nursing-specific content
• Close integration of academic study and clinical practice

An Important Milestone

The 6th semester concludes with the state licensing exam for registered nurses.

Second Phase of Study (Semester 7 + 8)

Once you have successfully completed your nursing training, the second phase of your studies begins. 

Full-time study with a practical focus

In semesters 7 and 8, you will pursue a full-time program that also provides opportunities for practical experience:

• Opportunity to work part-time as a licensed nurse (up to 50% of the weekly work schedule)
• Opportunity to deepen your professional and academic skills
• Direct application of knowledge in practice
