Research at the IfP

The general aim of research and teaching activities at the IfP is the professionalization and evidence-based practice of nursing and the improvement of care in all areas of nursing and healthcare.

The IfP's research focuses primarily on clinical nursing research, i.e. the development, evaluation and implementation of interventions to optimize the care of those in need of care, the development and evaluation of models for interprofessional cooperation as well as evidence-based patient information and shared decision making. Another focus is on evidence synthesis, e.g. in the form of Cochrane Reviews, HTA reports and practice guidelines.

The Institute works in an international network. The methodological interest is particularly focused on the development and evaluation of complex interventions as well as evidence synthesis in the context of systematic reviews.

Current research at the IfP focuses on the care of people with dementia in hospital, the prevention of violence in various care settings, the promotion of sleep in people with dementia in inpatient geriatric care and in elderly hospital patients, and medical-nursing cooperation in general practitioner care and in inpatient and outpatient geriatric care.
